馬英九と習近平の会談が行われることに対して、台湾独立建国聯盟米国本部は以下の声明を発表する。
我々は有害な会話を続ける北京政府と台北政府を非難する。事実、似たような会談は近年、両岸の高官や他のレベルで行われてきたが、中台関係の緊張緩和や改善に意味があったとは言えない。
中国共産党率いる北京政府は東アジア、南シナ海における領土拡大に邁進しているのが現状だ。共産党は何とか台湾併呑を実現しようとして、経済力と政治的発言を利用してきた。
それに対して、中国国民党率いる台北政府はこれまでの会談を通して、経済依存の方向に交渉し、間違った政治的な望みを与えてきたのが事実だ。
このような現実と相いれない関係を馬英九と習近平二人の密室談義で決定することがあってはならない。共産党も国民党も共産中国と民主台湾の統一達成を表明している。最近のいわゆる緊張緩和、いわゆる関係改善は、馬と習が又共産党と国民党が統一に向けて心を一つにした結果なのである。
この関係は長く続くべきではない。なぜなら、国民にとっては受け入れられるものではなく、国民の承認を得ていないからである。間違いなく、台湾人民は主権と民主主義を大事にしている。世論調査や最近の選挙結果がその証拠である。台湾人は馬英九を総統に再選出した時、馬の「私が再当選した暁には、決して中国のリーダーとは会いません」という約束を信じたのである。
台湾独立建国聯盟米国本部は台湾に関する重大な問題は、台湾人民が納得できる方法と段階を経て解決されるべきであると強く主張する。馬英九は台湾人民をないがしろにすることはできない。台湾人民は馬英九に審判を下す権利があり、そうするであろう。

WUFI-USA Denounces Destructive Dialogue
In response to the announcement of the upcoming meeting between Ma Ying-Jeou of Taiwan and Xi Jinping of China, WUFI-USA issues the following statement:
We hereby denounce the governments in Beijing and Taipei continuing their destructive dialogue. In fact, similar meetings between other officials and other steps taken by both sides of the Taiwan Strait in recent years should not be interpreted as having reduced tensions and improved cross-strait relations in any meaningful way.
In reality the government in Beijing led by the Chinese Communist Party is a regime bent on territorial expansionism beyond the East China Sea and the South China Sea. The communists are actively pursuing annexation of Taiwan by means of economic coercion and political dialogue. In reality the government in Taipei led by the Chinese Nationalist Party is one which has seen fit to use such meetings to negotiate economic dependence and offer false political hopes.
This surreal relationship must not be consummated via a closed-door meeting between two men, Ma and Xi, whose political parties are sworn to achieving the unification of communist China and democratic Taiwan. The recent, so-called reduction of tensions and so-called improved relations are a product of these two men and two parties being of one mind for unification.
Alas, this recent relationship is not a lasting one since it has not been found acceptable to nor endorsed by those governed. Rightly so, the people of Taiwan cherish their sovereignty and their democracy. Opinion polls and recent election results are testament to this. These people re-elected Ma Ying-Jeou based on his promise that, “I absolutely will not meet with the Chinese leader if I am re-elected.”
WUFI-USA strongly urges that such important issues involving Taiwan should be resolved in a manner and pace acceptable to the people of Taiwan. Ma is beholden to the Taiwanese people who are entitled to and will pass their judgment upon his return.
